About

Mission of ASC is to deliver a broad range of information technology (IT) services to support manufacturing companies; especially integrated management information and process control systems.

A distinctive feature of ASC is automation of non-typical and complex business-processes by exploiting mathematical methods to solve complex problems such as optimizing planning and resource allocation, trim, and composition.

The main customers of ASC are Russian and foreign industrial enterprises, software development companies, trade companies, and other.

Currently the staff of ASC is about 60 people.

Activities:

• Enterprise management automation systems - developing, commissioning and maintaining;
• Process control systems - commissioning, customer training, mathematical modeling;
• Cooperation with Metso Corporation - software development for "Metso Automation Inc." and "Metso Minerals Inc.";
• Contract research and development - software development and scientific research for other foreign companies and organzations.
• Web-projects - development of web-sites and web-integrated applications;

PetrSU

Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU) was founded in 1940. PetrSU is one of the largest universities in European North of Russia. It includes 9 faculties, and 7 branch offices in the North-West of Russia.

The faculty of the university is more than 1000 teachers. They work at 80 departments of the university. Among the staff are 118 doctors of science and more than 500 candidates of science. Now about 15 000 students study at the university (including the branch offices).

Petrozavodsk State University is a well-known leader and award-winner among the universities of Russia in the fields of information technologies and international cooperation.

The department of applied mathematics and cybernetics of PetrSU

The department of applied mathematics and cybernetics of PetrSU was established in 1982. Since 1982 till 2002 more than 70 custom software systems had been commissioned by the staff of the department. Among the customers are Arkhangelsk, Kotlas, Kondopoga and Segezha pulp-and-paper mills (which are amond 10 largest pulp-and-paper mills in Russia), Krasnoyarsk and Ust-Ilimsk forestry enterprises, OJS “Bumprom”, OJS “Karelenergo”, “Petrozavodskmash” Ltd. and other large industrial enterprises.

Among the department partners are Saint-Petersburg State University, Saint-Petersburg Technical University of Plant Polimers, Byelorussia State Univercity, Saint-Petersburg Forestry Engineering Academy, Tyumen State Oil and Gas University, Tampere University of Technology (Finland), University of Helsinki, the Geteborg, Aalborg, and other universities.

Since 2002 activity on software development has been carried out by ASC.

Metso Automation

Metso Automation specializes on manufacturing and delivering of technological process control systems, information systems, field devices, and the services covering all stages of equipment and enterprise life cycle.

In 2007, Metso Automation sales volume has reached 698 mln euro, and number of the personnel — 3500 employees. The main customers are the enterprises pulp-and-paper, mineral-processing, power and petrochemical industries. Metso Automation products and services are delivered worldwide. The company has offices in 37 countries of Europe, Northern and South America, Asia, Australia and Africa.

Metso Automation is a part of Metso Corporation, which also includes Metso Paper and Metso Minerals. In 2007, Metso sales volume was 6.25 billion euro, and number of the personnel — about 28 400 employees. More information about Metso corporation is available from its web-site.

Opti-Soft

The company "Opti-Soft" was created by IT-park at 100% participation of Petrozavodsk State University. Company employees have extensive experience in execution of works on the development and application of mathematical models, methods and complexes of program for solving the production planning problems, especially for timber enterprises, the pulp and paper industries and mechanical engineering. Achievement of company regularly marked by diplomas of international exhibitions and competitions.

The scientific team includes four professors and doctors of science, 14 associate professors and Candidates of Engineering Sciences, 27 post graduate students and students. The scientific team successfully finished more than 40 projects by software development for production enterprises. Our major customers are Metso Automation Inc. (Finland), AJS "Arckangesk pulp-and paper mill", OJS "Pulp and cardboard plant" (Bratsk. Russia), "OJS "Kondopoga" (Kondopoga, Russia), OJS "Kiev cardboard-and-paper mill" (Kiev, Ukraine), OJS "Kotlas pulp-and-paper mill" (Kotlas, Russia), OJS "Svetogorsk pulp-and-paper mill" (Svetogorsk, Russia), OJS "Segezhsy pulp-and-paper mill" (Segezha, Russia) and other.
